"A cable messager was published in our issue on Friday from our London correspondent stating that Captain George Neville had been appointed to succeed Captain White as the commandant of the naval forces of Victoria. Captain Neville is a post-captain, having obtained the position in June, 1892. He entered the navy in June, 1863, became a Lieutenant in 1872, and commander in 1885. For some time he was commander of H.M.S. Vivid, the flagship of H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh. Unlike both Captain Thomas and Captain White, the new naval commandant has not seen any active service."
