James Adams was born in Lewisham, Kent, England on the 10th of February 1859. James joined the Royal Navy in 1878 where he served for 8-10 years. After joining the Victorian Navy between 1884 and 1887 and serving in it until federation, James appears to have served in the Commonwealth Navy Forces until 1905.
