Brought to anchor No 6 Buoy in Malta Harbour. Several officers from xxx ships & many visitors from the shore. Seymoure came on board drunk refused duty Dooley came on board over bows. Numbers of men came on board in Shore Boat No of boat unknown Maloney Sto drunk McDayal & 4 others names unknown due to gangway rush

After 5 pm Chalton locked up the prisoner after giving him his tea Delivered keys to Short 2xx Brigmore drunk at the Gangway said he would shoot the Capt. Allen & McDougal from the xxxxx took one bottle Coates Basbage & Whitehead from the xxxxx took 3 bottles of Liquer Basbage very abusive Macauley drunk
Tuesday 29th November 1870 At Malta
8.00 am Sent on shore in charge of police Hall, Myles, Brigmore Davey Hatcher Allen Seymour Palmer & Page all AB 6.30 pm Thornton Sto carried on board unable to answer his name 11.15 Mr Spring Eng came on board in the same state as he left the ship intoxicated and walked forx coaling ship

* 1853 is given as the commencement date for the Victorian Navy as this is the year that Commander Lockyer (RN) went to Britain to superintend the building of HMCS Victoria. Although the Victorian Navy ended in 1901 the career of Cerbeus etc continued. In 1910 the new ships started arriving & manning levels increased.
