Typhoid is very prevalent in Williamstown just now, and although every effort has been made by the local authorities to stamp it out, it is fast gaining ground. It is stated that there are something like 60 or 70 cases in the town. Several young persons have fallen victims, the latest being a young man named Robert William Marr, 26 years of age, who died in the Melbourne Hospital on Monday. The deceased belonged to the Victorian Navy, and was present at the encampment of the torpedo fleet at Swan Island. He took to his bed soon after returning. On Wednesday morning the last tribute of respect to the dead was paid by his comrades in the navy, who, under the command of Commander Kingsford, proceded tha remains to the grave.
