| James Allan Ward
Lieutenant
Listed in the Victorian Defence Forces List, Naval Branch, 1 January 1890 as being on the Unattached List.
Retired R.N.
Lieutenant Ward, late of the Royal Navy and the Victorian navy, died at Alexandra, Victoria, on Wednesday. He had been blind for some years, and on Mondav was being driven out by his groom. While passing over the Eildon Bridge the buggy, which was drawn up close to one side of the structure, was run into by a carrier's waggon. The vehicle was overturned, and Lieutenant Ward was thrown out. The wheels of the wagon passed over one of his legs and the shock of the accident is supposed to have brought on an attack of apoplexy, from which he died.
