Mr. John Tyrrell
Mr. John Tyrrell, formerly an official of the Navy Office in Melbourne, died at the Royal Melbourne Hospital yesterday evening. He was aged 70 years. Born at Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland, he came to Victoria more than 50 years ago and Joined the Victorian naval force. He served with the Victorian naval contingent during the Boxer rebellion in China. About 25 years ago he was transferred from the Royal Australian Navy, in which he held the rank of chief petty-officer, to the Navy Office. He retired six years ago. He leaves a widow, two sons, and three married daughters.
The funeral will leave his home, Jura, 8 Alexander street, Footscray, at 3.30 p.m. tomorrow for the New Melbourne General Cemetery, Fawkner. The Rev. F. E. Blyth (Methodist) will be the officiating clergyman at the house and graveside. The Union Jack will drape the casket and a bugle will sound the Last Post at the graveside. Nelson Bros, have charge of the funeral arrangements.
